Soprano and Tenor Duo, Angharad Morgan and David Fortey, started singing together in 2001 when they studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Initially they came together to perform in a show called ‘From Covent Garden…to Broadway’ and it was after the success of these concerts and several years of talking about putting together a professional duo, that Cantare… was born. As performers they are varied and versatile, and give a unique blend of music from opera to musical theatre therefore providing audiences with the sought after ‘something for everyone’.
Both have exciting solo careers, Angharad Morgan, was a Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 2013, singing Alice (cover) Falstaff, Ione Wakening Shadow (a role she created for Glyndebourne Festival Opera 2013) and Dew Fairy Hansel Und Gretel. She has also performed with Wexford Festival Opera and Welsh National Opera. Known for her versatility, Angharad is a regular performer with male voice choirs, ensembles and festivals throughout the UK.
Like Angharad, upon graduating, David began his professional career with Glyndebourne Festival Opera and later with Garsington Festival Opera. Since 2007, David has been a full time member of the award-winning choir Only Men Aloud; his work with Only Men Aloud has given him the opportunity to perform internationally and also the opportunity to record extensively for television and radio. David is sought after as a chorister and soloist both at home and abroad.
As a duo, Angharad and David have performed throughout the UK with their shows ‘Cantare at the Musicals’ ‘A Night at the Opera’ and ‘Cantare at Christmas’. Most recently they performed at the Welsh Proms with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at St David’s Hall. They start the new year excited with the forthcoming performances they are due to give as Cantare.
